Disney on Ice

Ron & I took Ava to Disney on Ice yesterday at the Fedex Forum. It was a blast! I wish I would have been videoing her when I told her where we were going-- it was adorable!! Her eyes got really big, and I could tell she was thinking so hard about it that she didn't know what to say:) Then she said, "Can I skate with them?" and "I want to kiss Snow White." Ha! The show was great, and we had decent seats. Afterwards, we rode around Downtown Memphis and took in some sights before settling on a restuarant. Ava is such a good girl when we go out to dinner. I'm so proud of her. We had a wonderful family date night!!!!!

random rambling

I haven't blogged in 17 days... Life has been extra hectic lately.
Here's what I've been up to:
  • playing church softball on Tuesday nights. I love it! I've met new friends and gotten more exercise.
  • Niki and I started P90x last week. She comes over at 5:30 a.m. I have so much fun with her that I forget that I'm exercising (most of the time!). I haven't been keeping up with my "Wednesday Weigh-Ins because I got so frustrated with myself, but I'm back on track. I'll pick back up with that this week.
  • haven't had much luck at yard sales the past several weeks ;(
  • trying to sell our house. It's "get out of debt time" around here. I have to remind myself to focus on the eternal things when I get bummed about it. I will miss the house that I picked out everything for, but it's all GOOD! :)
  • I haven't gotten to read a book for fun since July-- it's time to head to the library!
  • I have been helping a few friends/friends of friends decorate (pics soon).
  • My online classes stress me out.
  • I have been cooking much more; last Saturday I cooked for the week ahead, and it was so helpful!! It saves money for sure.
  • Got a new haircut.
  • We're going to Disney on Ice tonight. I'm so excited for Ava:)

Labor Day Weekend!

I really enjoyed Labor Day weekend. It seems to always come at just the right time--I was exhausted last week. I took a nap Friday, Saturday, Sunday, & Monday!! Some of the highlights of our weekend were....
  • the naps, of course;)
  • watching my 11th grade students at the Friday night football game
  • hanging out with Anna
  • yard sales with my sister
  • Brittany's baby shower
  • going to our friends' house to watch football
  • 7th annual Biker Sunday at our church- dressing Ava up as a little biker chick
  • Goodwill shopping
  • small group fellowship
  • riding around with the windows down with Ron & Ava (the weather was perfect for a few days!)
  • going out for breakfast with my family
  • taking Ava to the park
  • not being at work;)

I love shoes.

I went to Dillard's Department Store for their end of the summer shoe sale. They also had last year's fall styles on clearance. I racked up! When I came home, I added up the retail prices on these five pairs of shoes: $365. I paid $88 total for all FIVE pairs! Yay!

Brooke's Bargains 29

Last week's yard sale adventure was incredible; this week's brought to mind over and over-- why didn't I sleep late today! That's the way it is though... Brittany & I found a few cute things this week.

ruffle clutch: $0.25
I found this wall art at Goodwill for $3.
2 Max Lucado videos for Ava $1 (These are $10-15 at Family Christian bookstores.)

Today I got out the storage container that I use for Ava's clothes & shoes that I find at yard sales, Goodwill, and clearance items for the coming seasons. I am always so glad that I buy ahead! I wanted to take inventory of her FALL :) clothes (I honestly forget about a lot of it). I snapped a few pics of what I found, but here's the list:
  • 11 pairs of shoes
  • 3 pairs of pajamas
  • 1 Halloween costume
  • 1 raincoat (Ava was so excited!)
  • 3 dresses
  • 8 pants
  • 6 pairs of leggings
  • 16 shirts
  • 1 vest

Weigh-in Wednesday 4

No weight loss this week:(

I'm watching what I eat most of the time and getting in exercise every week when I can. We've had a hectic few weeks lately. I'm disappointed that this is so slow!
